RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO PARTNER WITH THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION TO ORGANIZE THE HIKE FOR HOPE EVENT SCHEDULED ON JUNE 22, 2024, IN THE HIGHLANDS PRESERVE IN WEST MILFORD, NEW JERSEY, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (“AFSP”) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services is seeking to partner with the AFSP to conduct a Hike for Hope Event on June 22, 2024 in the Highlands Preserve in West Milford, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, there will be a registration fee of fifteen (15) dollars for participant, and the profits from the event will be donated to the AFSP to continue raising awareness on suicide prevention, advocacy, policy and research; and
WHEREAS, the AFSP will be responsible for all necessary expenses, insurance, and claims arising out of the Hike for Hope Event, and both, the AFSP and the County, have agreed not to misuse each organization’s logo and to seek permission prior to using same; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 16, 2024, Health & Human Services Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Department of Health Services to partner with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to organize the Hike for Hope Event scheduled on June 22, 2024, in the Highlands Preserve in West Milford, New Jersey.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of Health Services, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
