RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC, PASSAIC COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, CABLEVISION LIGHTPATH, LLC, AND NJEDGE, INC., FOR THE INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTICS WITHIN RIFLE CAMP PARK IN THE BOROUGH OF WOODLAND PARK, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County owns and operates Rifle Camp Park, located along Rifle Camp Road in the Borough of Woodland Park, which provides a various amenities, including scenic overlooks, hiking trails, picnic area, camping areas, and an amphitheater; and
WHEREAS, the County and Passaic County Community College have collaborated to construct the Rifle Camp Environmental Center, located at 387 Rifle Camp Road in the Borough of Woodland Park; and
WHEREAS, it is now necessary to install telecommunications equipment at Rifle Camp Park and the Rifle Camp Park Environmental Center to facilitate high-speed data transmission; and
WHEREAS, at its own cost and expense, NJEdge Inc., Passaic County Community College’s internet service provider, has retained Cablevision Lightpath, LLC, to install the necessary fiber optic cable on existing utility poles along Rifle Camp Road and the driveway of Rifle Camp Park; and
WHEREAS, Passaic County Community College, NJEdge, Inc., and Cablevision Lightpath, LLC, require the County’s approval to proceed with the installation of the fiber optic telecommunications equipment at Rifle Camp Park; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 8, 2024 meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the execution of an agreement between the County of Passaic, Passaic County Community College, NJEdge, Inc., and Cablevision Lightpath, LLC, for the installation of fiber optic telecommunications equipment in Rifle Camp Park and the Rifle Camp Park Environmental Center.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
