RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR SERVICES TO ADOPT A FEE SCHEDULE FOR SENIOR CITIZEN TRIPS CONDUCTED BY THE PASSAIC COUNTY PARATRANSIT DIVISION, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Department of Senior Services provides assistance to senior citizens in the County, including home and community services; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Senior Services operates the Passaic County Paratransit Program, which provides transportation for the County’s senior citizens and disabled residents in need of non-emergency rides to medical appointments, shopping centers, group work programs, and County-run nutrition and adult day care sites; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Senior Services is recommending to adopt a new fee structure to cover the cost of senior citizen trips, attached as Schedule A and made part of this Resolution, which will reduce pricing for senior groups while covering necessary expenses; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 7, 2024, Health & Human Services Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the Passaic County Department of Senior Services to adopt a new fee structure for senior citizen trips, as set forth in Schedule A, which will reduce pricing for senior groups while covering necessary expenses.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of Senior Services, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
