RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A LETTER OF INTENT BY AND BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC, PASSAIC COUNTY IMPROVEMENT AUTHORITY, PASSAIC COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND NEW JERSEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO EXPLORE THE REDEVELOPMENT 80 HAMILTON STREET, PATERSON, NEW JERSEY 07505

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the property located at 80 Hamilton Street, Paterson, New Jersey 07505 currently serves as office space for the Passaic County Board of Social Services and is eligible for historic designation on the National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, given the impending demolition of the Passaic County Jail and the relocation of the Board of Social Services headquarters, the County would like to redevelop the property located at 80 Hamilton Street, Paterson, New Jersey 07505, in partnership with the Passaic County Improvement Authority, Passaic County Community College and New Jersey Community Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Administrator is seeking authorization to execute the Letter of Intent, attached hereto and made part of this Resolution, which sets forth the terms of the aforementioned partnership to explore the redevelopment of 80 Hamilton Street, Paterson, New Jersey 07505; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 8, 2024 Administration & Finance Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the Passaic County Administrator to execute the attached Letter of Intent, which sets forth the terms of a partnership by and between the County of Passaic, Passaic County Improvement Authority, Passaic County Community College, and New Jersey Community Development Corporation to explore the redevelopment of 80 Hamilton Street, Paterson, New Jersey 07505.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Administrator, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
