RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT FUNDING FROM FFY23 VICTIM OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) GRANT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioner of the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office (hereinafter “PCPO”) seeks permission to apply for and accept funds in the amount of two hundred nineteen thousand four hundred six dollars ($219,406.00) from the FFY23 Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) Grant Program (Subaward Number V-16-23), which is administered by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety for the period October 1, 2024, through November 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the County will provide an in-kind salary/fringe match in the amount of forty-three thousand eight hundred eighty-one dollars ($43,881.00); and
WHEREAS, the VOCA Grant is used to cover expenses related to the County Office of Victim Services; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed by the Law and Public Safety Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to apply for and accept funds in the amount of two hundred nineteen thousand four hundred six dollars ($219,406.00) from the FFY23 Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) Grant Program (Subaward Number V-16-23), which is administered by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety for the period October 1, 2024, through November 30, 2025.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County will provide an in-kind salary/fringe match in the amount of forty-three thousand eight hundred eighty-one dollars ($43,881.00), and the State Grant Funds in the amount of one hundred seventy-five thousand five hundred twenty-five dollars ($175,525.00) for a total project amount of two hundred thousand nineteen thousand four hundred six dollars ($219,406.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office shall use the funds received for the purposes described in the application submitted for same.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Administrator, Prosecutor, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute an agreement and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
