RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC TO ACCEPT GERO-PSYCH GRANT FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION SERVICES FOR THE PREAKNESS HEALTHCARE CENTER LONG-TERM MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) are vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, Preakness Healthcare Center (hereafter “Preakness”) is a New Jersey Department of Health licensed, 406-bed skilled nursing facility that is owned and operated by the Board; and
WHEREAS, by prior Resolution, the Board authorized the application for Gero-Psych grant funding from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (hereafter “NJ DMHAS”) for the Preakness Long-Term Mental Health Program; and
WHEREAS, the Board is in receipt of a Contract Approval Form from NJ DMHAS, indicating that the County has been approved for a Gero-Psych Grant in the amount of three hundred thirty-six thousand five hundred seventy-three and 00/100 ($336,573.00) dollars for the calendar year 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Gero-Psych Grant will help fund the Preakness Long-Term Mental Health Program; and
WHEREAS, the matter was discussed at the September 17, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval;
NOW THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) hereby authorizes the acceptance of the Gero-psych Grant and execution of Contract Approval Form from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the amount of three hundred thirty six thousand five hundred seventy three and 00/100 ($336,573.00) dollars for the calendar year 2024 for the Preakness Healthcare Center Long-Term Mental Health Program.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Executive Director of Preakness Healthcare Center, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
