RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUPERVISOR OF ROADS TO APPLY & ACCEPT A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $850,000.00 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO INSTALL ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has allotted $3,290,054,336 in funding available for community project funding that is administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Roads is seeking authorization to apply and accept a grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to install electric vehicle charging stations within the County of Passaic in the amount of eight hundred fifty thousand dollars ($850,000.00), under Grant Number B-24-CP-NJ-1423, per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (public law 118-42)(the FY2024 Act), and the further Consolidated Appropriations act, 2024 (Public Law 11-47), in accordance with the terms and conditions specific under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development letter dated August 28, 2024; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the October 9, 2024 meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1 that the Passaic County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Supervisor of Roads to apply and accept the grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to install electric vehicle charging stations within the County of Passaic in the amount of eight hundred fifty thousand dollars ($850,000.00), under Grant Number B-24-CP-NJ-1423, per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (public law 118-42)(the FY2024 Act), and the further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law 11-47).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Supervisor of Roads, and the Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
