RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION SERVICES FOR THE PREAKNESS HEALTHCARE CENTER LONG-TERM MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:2-0-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 et seq, and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) are vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, Preakness Healthcare Center (hereafter “Preakness”) is a New Jersey Department of Health licensed, 406-bed skilled nursing facility that is owned and operated by the Board; and
WHEREAS, the Board, on behalf of Preakness, desires to apply for and accept the grant from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the amount of three hundred fifty-seven thousand four hundred ninety-one ($357,491.00) dollars (hereafter “Gero-psych Grant”); and
WHEREAS, the Gero-psych Grant for calendar year 2025 will help fund the Preakness Long-Term Mental Health Program; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the December 17, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 et seq, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) hereby authorizes execution of the application for the grant funding from the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services for calendar year 2025, and further authorizes acceptance of grant in the amount of three hundred fifty-seven thousand four hundred ninety-one ($357,491.00) dollars; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and Executive Director of the Preakness Healthcare Center and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
