RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER TO CANCEL OUTSTANDING CHECKS, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, there are bank reconciliations that contain outstanding checks issued by the County of Passaic prior to January 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the accounts and values of the outstanding checks are as follows:
Account #1713 -Parks Security Deposit Account - $2,180.00
WHEREAS, this check is old and it is beneficial to the County to cancel said check; and
WHEREAS, in the event that a future claim is received, the County will refund such funds from its current year Operating Account, and a listing of these checks will be retained by the County Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the December 11, 2024, meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Chief Financial Officer to cancel the following outstanding check, which was issued prior to January 1, 2024, and has not been cashed:
Account #1713 -Parks Security Deposit Account - $2,180.00
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chief Financial Officer is hereby authorized to credit the above-referenced amounts to miscellaneous revenue in Current Fund.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Chief Financial Officer and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
