RESOLUTION THE EXECUTION OF TWO (2) AGREEMENTS BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC AND SOCCER STARS OF SOMERS, NEW YORK AND MOUNT ARLINGTON, NEW JERSEY TO HOST CLASSES DURING THE SPRING SUMMER, AND FALL OF 2025, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County partnered with Soccer Stars to host soccer classes in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2025 for children ages two (2) through eleven (11); and
WHEREAS, Soccer Stars has agreed to hold classes twice a week, for six (6) weeks in the following parks: Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne, NJ; Weasel Brook Park in Clifton, NJ; Dundee Island Park in Passaic, NJ; and Camp Hope in West Milford, NJ; and
WHEREAS, the one (1) hour sessions will cost two thousand two hundred eighty dollars ($2,280.00) per season for a total cost of thirteen thousand six hundred eighty dollars ($13,680.00); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking authorization to execute the Soccer Stars Agreement (hereafter “Agreement”); and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 5-01-28-198-001-R01 or any other account that may be deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Officer or his designee, and the availability of funds has been contingently certified by the Chief Financial Officer subject to sufficient funds being appropriated by the Board in the 2025 and/or subsequent years’ County budget (s), which is attached to and made part of this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the March 12, 2025 meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the execution of the Soccer Stars Agreement by and between the County of Passaic and Soccer Stars.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and the Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
