RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TREE PLANTING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC AND PERU SQUARE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION OF PERU SQUARE IN THE CITY OF PATERSON, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq.; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Passaic Board of County Commissioners (the “Board”) is vested with the powers to make all decisions on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County was approached by Peru Square Community Association (hereafter “Association”) regarding the Association’s desire to enter into a tree planting agreement to begin a beautification project of Peru Square, on Market Street, a County road, between Mill Street and Main Street in the City of Paterson; and
WHEREAS, under the proposed tree planting agreement, attached hereto and made part hereof, the Association would plant twelve (12) trees on Market Street, between Mill Street and Main Street, and be responsible for the maintenance of said trees, and such trees shall not affect County facilities or any utilities; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the March 12, 2025 meeting of the Public Works Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the execution of a tree planting agreement between the County and Peru Square Community Association for the beautification of Peru Square, along Market Street between Mill Street and Main Street in the City of Paterson.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other action necessary to carry out the purposes of this Resolution.
