RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BOROUGH OF BLOOMINGDALE TO REALLOCATE THE REMAINING ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY THOUSAND AND 00/100 ($180,000.00) DOLLARS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO BOGUE POND PARK.

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) created an Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Program (hereafter “Program”) in conformity with the will of the voters in the 1996 election, as authorized by N.J.S.A. 40:12-15.2; and
WHEREAS, the purpose and goals of the above is to achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the mandates of the Program, the said Board did approve and appoint an Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee (hereafter “the Committee”) to study the open space issue and make recommendations concerning the distribution of funds to worthy applicants; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Bloomingdale was awarded two hundred fifty thousand and 00/100 ($250,000.00) dollars in 2023 Open Space Park Development Program for renovation of the Borough’s Bogue Pond Playground; and
WHEREAS, the Borough received a significant donation of construction material and logistic services by local private businesses, and their project was completed with one hundred eighty thousand and 00/100 ($180,000.00) dollars remaining from their award; and
WHEREAS, the Borough would like to reallocate the remaining one hundred eighty and 00/100 (180,000.00) dollars into the following improvements at Bogue Pond Park:

WHEREAS, the Board is desirous of approving this request, because the proposal furthers the intent and purpose of the County’s Open Space Program; and
WHEREAS, a letter from the Borough Administrator, Michael Sondermeyer, is attached with detail; and
WHEREAS, the matter was discussed at the July 3, 2025, meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, for the reasons set forth above, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Borough of Bloomingdale to reallocate the remaining one hundred eighty thousand and 00/100 ($180,000.00) dollars for the above-mentioned improvements at Bogue Pond Park.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the appropriate agreements in connection with the above.
