RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE ACCESS SERVICES GRANT FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter the “Board”) are vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services (hereafter “Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department is requesting a resolution to apply for and accept the Communication and Language Access Services Grant issued by the New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the amount of seventy thousand and 00/100 ($70,000.00) dollars; and
WHEREAS, this award is conditioned upon the execution and formal approval of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Passaic County and compliance by Passaic County with all of the terms, conditions and requirements, as set forth therein; and
WHEREAS, a monetary match is not required; and
WHEREAS, the grant period is June 19, 2025 to June 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the July 8, 2025 meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Human Services to apply for and accept the Communication and Language Access Services Grant issued by the New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the amount of seventy thousand and 00/100 ($70,000.00) dollars with a grant period beginning on June 19 , 2025 and ending June 30, 2026; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, Director of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Department of Human Services are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
