RESOLUTION APPOINTING NORDAN MURPHY AS THE PASSAIC COUNTY ENGINEER FOR A FIVE-YEAR TERM, COMMENCING ON AUGUST 12, 2025 AND EXPIRING ON AUGUST 11, 2030, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43, the Board is required to appoint a county engineer to lead the County’s Engineering Department for a term of five (5) years; and
WHEREAS, after more than a decade of dedicated service, Jonathan Pera recently stepped down from his position as Passaic County Engineer, leaving the position vacant; and
WHEREAS, Nordan Murphy is a licensed professional engineer of the State of New Jersey and a resident of the County, whose distinguished career includes more than seven years of service to the County as Assistant County Engineer; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Murphy has served admirably as Assistant County Engineer, and the Administration and Finance Committee is recommending that Mr. Murphy be appointed as Passaic County Engineer for a five-year term, commencing August 12, 2025 and expiring on August 11, 2030; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the July 30, 2025 Administration and Finance Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby appoints Nordan Murphy, P.E., P.P., as Passaic County Engineer for a five-year term, commencing August 12, 2025 and expiring August 11, 2030.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mr. Murphy shall be afforded all benefits provided to similarly situated County of Passaic employees.
