RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TO DONATE ONE (1) 2012 FORD TAURUS NO LONGER NEEDED FOR PUBLIC USE TO THE BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VIII, Section III, Paragraph 2 of the New Jersey Constitution, counties are permitted to donate personal property no longer needed for the public use, provided that the gift serves a benefit to the community as a whole, and the recipient of the gift engages in roles related to the function of government; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has identified a 2012 Ford Taurus that is no longer needed for public use by the Prosecutor’s Office; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Ringwood Police Department has made an inquiry regarding the availability of the 2012 Ford Taurus; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office desires to donate said 2012 Ford Taurus to the Borough of Ringwood Police Department, as the donation of said vehicle will serve the community as a whole, and the recipient of the donation, as a municipal entity, engages in roles related to the function of government; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the October 7, 2025 meeting of the Law and Public Safety Committee and is being recommended to the Board approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the donation of a 2012 Ford Taurus, no longer needed for public use, to the Borough of Ringwood Police Department.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution No. R-25-0975 dated October 14, 2025 shall be and hereby is repealed.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Prosecutor or her designee, Director of the Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator, County Counsel, Clerk of the Board, Chief Financial Officer, and any other employee for the County of Passaic may take any action necessary to effectuate the purpose of this Resolution.
