RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING NADEGE D. ALLWATERS, ESQ. AS PASSAIC COUNTY COUNSEL FOR A THREE-YEAR TERM, COMMENCING FEBRUARY 27, 2025 AND TERMINATING FEBRUARY 26, 2028, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43, the Board is required to appoint a county counsel to lead the Office of the Passaic County Counsel for a three (3) year term; and
WHEREAS, Nadege D. Allwaters, Esq. is a licensed attorney of the State of New Jersey in good standing and a resident of the County of Passaic, received a Bachelor of Acts in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, and graduated with a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Allwaters’s distinguished legal career includes years of service to the County in multiple roles, including as legal counsel to the Passaic County Board of Social Services; legal counsel to the Passaic County Construction Board of Appeals; Assistant County Counsel; and Deputy County Counsel; and
WHEREAS, on December 27, 2022, the Board passed Resolution No. R-22-1203, appointing Ms. Allwaters as Passaic County Counsel for the unexpired term of Matthew P. Jordan, Esq., commencing January 1, 2023 and expiring February 26, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Allwaters has served admirably as County Counsel, and the Administration and Finance Committee is recommending that Ms. Allwaters be reappointed as County Counsel for a three-year term, commencing February 27, 2025 and expiring February 26, 2028; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 29, 2025 Administration and Finance Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-43, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby reappoints Nadege D. Allwaters, Esq. as Passaic County Counsel for a three-year term, commencing February 27, 2025 and expiring February 26, 2028.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that Nadege D. Allwaters, Esq. shall be afforded all benefits provided to similarly situated County of Passaic employees.
