RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY’S COUNTY PROSECUTOR INSURANCE FRAUD REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 17:33A-28

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioner of the County of Passaic (the “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 17:33A-28, the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor has been tasked with overseeing reimbursement of funding used for activities undertaken in connection with investigating and prosecuting insurance fraud (the “County Prosecutor Insurance Fraud Reimbursement Program”); and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor is accepting applications for the County Prosecutor Insurance Fraud Reimbursement Program for the period of January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, in an amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00), with no match required; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office desires to apply for grant funding from the Insurance Fraud Reimbursement Program to pay the partial salaries of one chief assistant prosecutor and three detectives assigned to the Insurance Fraud Unit; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the December 2, 2025 meeting of the Law and Public Safety Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED pursuant to N.J.S.A. 17:33A-28, that the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic hereby authorizes Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to apply and accept any funds awarded through the County Prosecutor Insurance Fraud Reimbursement Program in an amount of two-hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) to pay the partial salaries of one chief assistant prosecutor and three detectives assigned to the PCPO Insurance Fraud Unit for the period of January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, with no match required.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Administrator, Prosecutor, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute an agreement and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
