RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT AN OVERDOSE FATALITY REVIEW TEAMS GRANT, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services (“Department”) is responsible for protecting and promoting the health of approximately 525,000 residents of the County; and
WHEREAS, through the Overdose Fatality Review Teams (“OFRTs”) Grant Program, the New Jersey Department of Health (“NJDOH”) supports the operations of local health departments and their OFRTs, which review overdose deaths and provide additional data regarding overdose decedents as well as make policy recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department is requesting that the Board authorize the Department to apply for and accept an OFRTs grant from the NJDOH in the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) for the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 29, 2025, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Health Services to apply for and accept an Overdose Fatality Review Teams grant from the New Jersey Department of Health, in the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) for the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Executive Director of the Department, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
