RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO THE FEDERAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY FOR TOTAL LOSS OF FEDERALLY FUNDED ASSET, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Senior Services (“Department”) provides assistance with senior benefit programs, including home and community services to senior citizens throughout Passaic County; and
WHEREAS, with the aid of funding from the Federal Transit Administration (“FTA”), the County previously acquired a 2016 Ford E-450 Super Duty vehicle (“Asset”), for use by the Passaic County Paratransit Program, and such Asset was determined to be a total loss following a collision; and
WHEREAS, consistent with Asset Disposition Guidance from the FTA and 2 C.F.R. § 200.313, the Director of the Department has advised that the County is required to make payment to the FTA for the fair market value of the lost Asset, in the amount of thirty-three thousand five dollars and eighty cents ($33,005.80); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 18, 2026, Health and Human Services Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes payment to the Federal Transit Administration for the total loss of a federally funded asset, in the amount of thirty-three thousand five dollars and eighty cents ($33,005.80).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Chief Financial Officer, Director of the Department, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purposes of this resolution.
