RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL & HISTORIC AFFAIRS TO ACCEPT A GRANT UNDER THE COUNTY HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF STATE, NEW JERSEY HISTORICAL COMMISSION, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of State, New Jersey Historical Commission (hereafter “NJHC”) is offering a grant under the County History Partnership Program, which enables the NJHC to support both existing and emerging local history organizations and practitioners serving diverse audiences; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs (hereafter “Department”) was informed by the NJHC that it was eligible to apply for and accept the grant under the County Historic Partnership Program, in the amount of seven thousand dollars ($7,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the Department will be using this grant award to acquire archival material for storing, cataloging and inventorying the County’s new Civil War collection; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 10, 2024, meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the acceptance of a grant under the County Historic Partnership Program from the State of New Jersey, Department of State, New Jersey Historical Commission, in the amount of seven thousand dollars ($7,000.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized execute any documents for the grant application and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
