RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY 2026 WORLD CUP HOST COMMITTEE, INC. FOR ESCORT OPERATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPCOMING FIFA WORLD CUP, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the New York/New Jersey 2026 World Cup Host Committee, Inc. has informed the Office of Emergency Management that it is eligible to accept a grant in the amount of eight thousand six hundred ninety-six dollars and seventy-two cents ($8,696.72) for escort operations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Grant Award letter dated May 7, 2026, attached hereto and made part hereof, the Office of Emergency Management will serve as lead agency for receiving the grant funds, and will divert portions of the grant funding towards the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, North Haledon Police Department, Clifton Police Department, and Hawthorne Police Department; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed on May 20, 2026 by the Law and Public Safety Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1 that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Office of Emergency Management to accept a grant in the amount of eight thousand six hundred ninety-six dollars and seventy-two cents ($8,696.72) for escort operations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Office of Emergency Management will serve as lead agency for receiving the grant funds, and will divert portions of the grant funding towards the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, North Haledon Police Department, Clifton Police Department, and Hawthorne Police Department, pursuant to the Grant Award letter dated May 7, 2026.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, OEM Coordinator or his designee, County Counsel, and the Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
