RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE 2025 NEW JERSEY CLEAN COMMUNITIES ENTITLEMENT, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 13:1E-213, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) are vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services, Recycling and Natural Resources Division (hereafter “Division”) coordinates all solid waste and recycling planning functions on behalf of the County and its municipalities; and
WHEREAS, established pursuant to N.J.S.A. 13:1E-213 et seq., the New Jersey Clean Communities Program is a statewide litter abatement program that provides funds to municipalities, assisting in implementing litter abatement programs; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Clean Communities program has informed the Division that it is eligible to apply for and accept the 2025 New Jersey Clean Communities Entitlement funds in the amount of one hundred nine thousand five hundred sixty-five dollars and forty cents ($109,567.40); and
WHEREAS, there is no dollar match to accept this grant; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the June 10, 2025, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 13:1E-213, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) hereby authorizes the Department of Health Services, Recycling and Natural Resources Division, to apply for and accept the 2025 New Jersey Clean Communities Entitlement funds in the amount of one hundred nine thousand five hundred sixty-five dollars and forty cents ($109,567.40).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Board, the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and Director of Health Services are authorized to take the necessary actions to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
