RESOLUTION TO AMEND R 23-0984, DATED OCTOBER 24, 2023, TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT AN ADDITIONAL ALLOCATION OF SEVENTY THOUSAND ($70,000.00) DOLLARS FROM THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF FAMILY DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) are vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services (hereafter “Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, Resolution R 23-0984, dated October 24, 2023, the Board authorized the Department to apply for and accept a grant from the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services in the amount of One Million Five Hundred Seventy-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Fourteen ($1,574,914.00) Dollars for the grant period beginning January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Department is requesting a Resolution to amend R 23-0984, dated October 24, 2023, to apply for and accept an additional allocation of Seventy Thousand ($70,000.00) Dollars from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development and the revised grant amount is One Million Six Hundred Forty-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Fourteen ($1,644,914.00) Dollars; and
WHEREAS, there is no dollar match to accept these funds; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 16, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for Approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et.seq., the Board of County of Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) hereby authorizes the application and acceptance of additional grant funding from the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services Division of Family Development, for the Social Services for the Homeless grant in the amount of Seventy Thousand ($70,000.00) Dollars bring the total amount to One Million Six Hundred Forty-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Fourteen ($1,644,914.00) Dollars to be utilized to assist individuals and families at risk of and experiencing homelessness in the Passaic County for the grant period beginning January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
