RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY TO ACCEPT THE DONATION OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT BLOCK 6717, LOT 1 IN THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST MILFORD, TO BE INCORPORATED INTO CAMP HOPE, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:12-5.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:12-5, the County is authorized to acquire real property through gifts made by members of the public; and
WHEREAS, Opendoor Property Trust I, a Delaware Statutory Trust, owner of the property identified as Block 6717, Lot 1 on the Official Tax Map of the Township of West Milford (hereafter “Property”), has offered to donate said Property to the County; and
WHEREAS, Remington & Vernick Engineers performed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Report, and confirmed that the Property was not in need of any environmental remediation; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Engineer is recommending that the Board authorize the acceptance of the Property, which is intended to become part of Camp Hope in the Township of West Milford, which is contiguous with the Property; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 15, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:12-5, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby accept the donation from Opendoor Property Trust I, a Delaware Statutory Trust of the property identified as Block 6717, Lot 1 on the Official Tax Map of the Township of West Milford to be incorporated into Camp Hope in the Township of West Milford.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute the contract and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
