RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF LAW & PUBLIC SAFETY, UNDER THE 2025 BODY ARMOR REPLACEMENT FUND PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter "County") is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Passaic Board of County Commissioners (hereafter "Board") is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of Law & Public Safety has made available grant funding under the 2025 Body Armor Replacement Fund (BARF) Program to assist law enforcement agencies with the replacement of body armor; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Sheriff's Office has applied for and been awarded a grant under the 2025 Body Armor Replacement Fund Program in the amount of thirty thousand three hundred twenty dollars and eighty-eight cents ($30,320.88); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the March 17, 2026 meeting of the Law and Public Safety Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 et seq. that the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the Passaic County Sheriff's Office to accept the grant award from the State of New Jersey, Department of Law & Public Safety, under the 2025 Body Armor Replacement Fund Program, in the amount of thirty thousand three hundred twenty dollars and eighty-eight cents ($30,320.88).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office shall use the funds received for the purposes set forth in its application for the receipt of said grant funds and as set forth in this resolution.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Passaic County Sheriff and/or his designee, and the Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
