RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR SERVICES TO ACCEPT AN AMENDED GRANT CARRYOVER AWARD FROM NEW JERSEY TRANSIT FOR THE SENIOR CITIZEN AND DISABLED RESIDENT TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, on June 13, 2023, the Board passed Resolution No. R-23-0559, authorizing the acceptance of a grant from New Jersey Transit for the Senior Citizens and Disabled Residents Transportation Assistance Program FY 2024 in the amount of one million, five hundred ninety-six thousand, and five hundred dollars ($1,596,500.00) for fiscal year 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Senior Services is now seeking authorization to accept the carryover amount from the FY 2024 Budget, in the amount of six hundred thirty-three thousand, two hundred fifty-two dollars and eighty-six cents ($633.252.86), to be incorporated into the FY 2026 Budget with a new total grant under this program in the amount of three million, six hundred ten thousand, three hundred seventy-one dollars and eighty-six cents ($3,600,371.86); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the July 29, 2026 meeting of the Administration and Finance Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:5-30, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the acceptance and execution of the Grant Amendment from New Jersey Transit with a carryover amount of six hundred thirty-three thousand, two hundred fifty-two dollars and eighty-six cents ($633.252.86) from FY 2024, increasing the grant award for the 2026 Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program to a new total of three million, six hundred ten thousand, three hundred seventy-one dollars and eighty-six cents ($3,600,371.86), which includes County Matching Funds in the amount of one million, seventy-seven thousand, three hundred and thirteen dollars ($1,077,313.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Finance, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
