RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT SPECIAL ELECTION GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DIVISION OF ELECTIONS, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Division of Elections (“Division of Elections”) has established a Special Election Grant Program to assist counties in supporting in-person early voting and election day needs for the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special Primary Election and the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special General Election; and
WHEREAS, the County Clerk is seeking to apply for and accept Special Election Grant Program funds from the Division of Elections in the amount of two hundred five thousand nine hundred eighty dollars and eighty cents ($205,980.80), which will be used for the administration of the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special Primary Election and the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special General Election; and
WHEREAS, this matter was considered by the Administration & Finance Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, the Passaic County Board of Commissioners authorizes the County Clerk to apply for and accept Special Election Grant Program funds from the State of New Jersey, Division of Elections in the amount of two hundred five thousand nine hundred eighty dollars and eighty cents ($205,980.80), which will be used for the administration of the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special Primary Election and the 2026 Congressional District 11 Special General Election in accordance with the grant program guidelines.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, County Clerk, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
