RESOLUTION APPOINTING NICAURIS LORA TO THE PASSAIC COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 44:1-12

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 44:1-10, the Board established the Passaic County Board of Social Services (“Board of Social Services”) for the permanent maintenance and relief of the poor in Passaic County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 44:1-11, the Board of Social Services shall be composed of not less than five (5) nor more than seven (7) citizens of the County or municipalities participating, at least two of whom shall be women, to be appointed by the Board, and other members as set forth under the law; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 44:1-12, members of the Board of Social Services shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years, with vacancies to be filled for the unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, there is a current vacancy for a Public Member on the Board of Social Services for a term beginning on January 1, 2026 and expiring on December 31, 2030; and
WHEREAS, Nicauris Lora is a resident of the County, and is otherwise qualified to serve as a Public Member of the Board of Social Services; and
WHEREAS, the County Administrator is recommending the appointment of Nicauris Lora to the Board of Social Services as a Public Member for a five (5) year term, retroactive to January 1, 2026 and expiring on December 31, 2030; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 11, 2026 Administration & Finance Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 44:1-12, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic appoints Nicauris Lora to the Board of Social Services as a Public Member for a five (5) year term, retroactive to January 1, 2026 and expiring on December 31, 2030
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board shall send a certified copy of this Resolution to be filed with the Executive Director of the Passaic County Board of Social Services.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purposes of this Resolution.
