RESOLUTION ACCEPTING ALLOCATION OF WORK FIRST NEW JERSEY AND SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FUNDS FROM THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2026/STATE FISCAL YEAR 2027, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services (“Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department is requesting a resolution to accept allocations of one million three hundred seventy-four thousand eight hundred and six dollars ($1,374,806.00) in Work First New Jersey (“WFNJ”)/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (“TANF”) funds, and one million nine hundred sixty-five thousand seven hundred and sixty-four dollars ($1,965,764.00) in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (“SNAP”) funds, for a total award of three million three hundred forty thousand five hundred and seventy dollars ($3,340,570.00) from the New Jersey Department of Labor for the period from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027 (Program Year 2026/State Fiscal Year 2027); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the September 9, 2026, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby accepts the allocation of one million three hundred seventy-four thousand eight hundred and six dollars ($1,374,806.00) in WFNJ/TANF funds, and one million nine hundred sixty-five thousand seven hundred and sixty-four dollars ($1,965,764.00) in SNAP funds, for a total award of three million three hundred forty thousand five hundred and seventy dollars ($3,340,570.00) from the New Jersey Department of Labor for the period from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027 (Program Year 2026/State Fiscal Year 2027).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department, and Director of the Board are hereby authorized to take any steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
