RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE NEW JERSEY FOOD SECURITY INITIATIVE TO DEVELOP AND SUSTAIN ANIT-HUNGER POLICY OUTREACH AND PROGRAMMING.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) are vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and

WHEREAS, the County through its Department of Human Services (hereafter “Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantage and homeless citizens; and

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department is requesting a Resolution authorizing the Department to apply for a grant from the New Jersey Food Security Initiative to develop and sustain anti-hunger policy outreach and programming; and

WHEREAS, the project will aim to increase public awareness and understanding that solving food insecurity is vital to the health and well-being of individuals, families, the New Jersey economy, and every local community; and

WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the March 19, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and

NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) hereby authorizes the Department of Human Services to apply for a grant from the New Jersey Food Security Initiative to develop and sustain anti-hunger policy outreach and programming; and

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Board, the County Counsel, and Clerk of the Board are hereby authorized to take the necessary actions to accept the grant application authorized on behalf of the County of Passaic.
