RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AS PASSAIC COUNTY POETRY MONTH

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs is seeking authorization to designate the month of October as Passaic County Poetry Month to celebrate creative expression and the literary arts; and
WHEREAS, as part of Passaic County Poetry Month, events will take place at various County locations, in partnership with WordSeed, a County non-profit with the mission to give voice and support to writers of every age and skill level within the County; and
WHEREAS, the goal of Passaic County Poetry Month is to promote the literary arts, encourage community participation, and further the County’s commitment to cultural enrichment and arts education countywide; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 28, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic designates the month of October as Passaic County Poetry Month, which will be celebrated with events at various locations within the County to promote creative expression and the literary arts.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Engineer, and Director of Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take any other action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
