RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT GRANT #NJ0364L2F112511 FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE COST, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services (“Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department is requesting authorization to apply for and accept Grant #NJ0364L2F112511 from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for rental assistance and administrative cost in the amount of one million five hundred thirty-two thousand nine hundred and sixty-three dollars ($1,532,963.00); and
WHEREAS, an in-kind dollar match is required in the amount of four hundred fifty-nine thousand eight hundred eighty-eight dollars and ninety cents ($459,888.90); and
WHEREAS, the grant period is from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027; and
WHEREAS, this matter was presented for the April 29, 2026, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Human Services to apply for and accept Grant # NJ0364L2F112511 from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for rental assistance and administrative cost, in the amount of one million five hundred thirty-two thousand nine hundred and sixty-three dollars ($1,532,963.00), with an in-kind dollar match in the amount of four hundred fifty-nine thousand eight hundred eighty-eight dollars and ninety cents ($459,888.90), and a grant period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, Director of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Department of Human Services are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
