RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000.00) TO THE GREENWOOD LAKE COMMISSION FROM THE OPEN SPACE, FARMLAND AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION TRUST FUND FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2024, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, on April 25, 2017, the Board passed Resolution No. R20170349, adopting a uniform body of rules and regulations governing the Open Space, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, on November 23, 2021, the Board passed Resolution No. R20211115, amending the uniform body of rules and regulations governing the Open Space, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2024, the Board passed Resolution No. R-24-32, approving the 2024 Open Space, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Budget, which included a grant appropriation for the Greenwood Lake Commission, in an amount not to exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) for calendar year 2024; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant allocation is to protect the natural resources of Greenwood Lake, which is located in the Township of West Milford; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. O-24-56-625-0010-604, or any other account that may be deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Officer or his designee, and the availability of funds has been contingently certified by the Chief Financial Officer subject to sufficient funds being appropriated by the Board in the 2024 and/or subsequent County budget(s), which is attached hereto and made part of this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 7, 2024 Administration and Finance Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes a grant award to the Greenwood Lake Commission for calendar year 2024, in an amount not to exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) from the Open Space, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, Chief Financial Officer, County Counsel, County Administrator, Open Space Coordinator, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
