RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY TO APPLY FOR THE NATIONAL FISH PASSAGE PROGRAM GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:5:30

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and

 

WHEREAS, the County desires to apply for and obtain a grant from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in the estimated amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) under the National Fish Passage Program Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, if the County’s application is accepted, the County intends to use the grant funding to remove a wooden barrier in Belcher’s Creek in the Township of West Milford, to restore aquatic connectivity and improve community safety; and

 

WHEREAS, this matter was at discussed at the October 15, 2025 meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic does hereby authorize the Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation to apply for the National Fish Passage Program Grant from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, in the estimated amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00).

 

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized execute any documents for the grant application and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
