RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AWARD OF A STIPEND TO FATHER JIM MOSS IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,000.00 FOR PASTORAL CARE SERVICES AT PREAKNESS HEALTHCARE CENTER FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2024 PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) are vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, Preakness Healthcare Center (hereafter “Preakness”) is a New Jersey Department of Health licensed, 406-bed skilled nursing facility that is owned and operated by the Board; and
WHEREAS, Father Jim Moss is a Preakness Volunteer Chaplain and does not receive a salary from Preakness; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 4-01-27-172-001-213 or any other account that may be deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Officer or his designee, and the availability of funds has been contingently certified by the Chief Financial Officer subject to sufficient funds being appropriated by the Board in the 2024 and/or subsequent years’ County budget(s), which is attached hereto and made part of this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 6, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes an award of stipend to Father Jim Moss for pastoral care services at Preakness Healthcare Center for the calendar year 2024 in the amount of Eight Thousand ($8,000.00) Dollars; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and Purchasing Agent are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
