RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION BY THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC TO THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR 2025 TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES SET-ASIDE PROGRAM FOR IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE WEST LENOX AVENUE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE IN THE BOROUGH OF POMPTON LAKES

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Planning and Economic Development is recommending that the County apply for a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation for the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program (hereafter "TA Set-Aside") to fund the West Lenox Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Improvements Project (hereafter "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the TA Set-Aside Program provides federal funds for community- based “non-traditional” surface transportation projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects relating to surface transportation systems; and
WHEREAS, the proposed improvements would include the replacement of the West Lenox Avenue Pedestrian Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the request is for a One Million Five Hundred Thousand ($1,500,000.00) Dollar grant; and
WHEREAS, the TA Set-Aside Program provides design assistance and funding to counties to promote community improvement activities; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 9, 2025, meeting of the Public Works Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter "Board") authorizes a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation 2025 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program to fund the West Lenox Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Improvements Project in the amount of One Million Five Hundred Thousand ($1,500,000.00) Dollars; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Engineer is authorized and directed to comply with all of the general requirements for change orders as set forth in N.J.A.C. 5:30-11.3, et seq.
