RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL & HISTORIC AFFAIRS TO ACCEPT A PROJECT GRANT FROM THE NEW JERSEY HISTORICAL COMMISSION FOR THE PLANNING, DESIGN, AND INSTALLATION OF INTERPRETIVE EXHIBITS AT THE HISTORIC PASSAIC COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN THE CITY OF PATERSON, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of State, New Jersey Historical Commission is offering the New Jersey Historic Commission Project Grant FY26, which supports the development of a civics-focused exhibit at the historic Passaic County Courthouse, and has informed the County that it is eligible to receive said grant in the amount of sixteen thousand eight hundred dollars ($16,800.00); and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to plan, design, and install an interpretive exhibit exploring the foundations of civic life and the judicial system at the Historic Passaic County Courthouse; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs (hereafter “Department”) is recommending that the County accept the New Jersey Historic Commission Project Grant FY26, in the amount of sixteen thousand eight hundred dollars ($16,800.00); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 28, 2026, meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the acceptance of the New Jersey Historic Commission Project Grant FY26 from the State of New Jersey, Department of State, New Jersey Historical Commission , in the amount of sixteen thousand eight hundred dollars ($16,800.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized execute any documents for the grant application and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
