RESOLUTION SCHEDULING A PUBLIC HEARING ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2026, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING AND RECEIVING COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS ON THE 2027 SENIOR CITIZEN AND DISABLED RESIDENT TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County’s Department of Senior Services, through its Paratransit Division (“Division”) provides transportation for the County’s senior citizens and disabled residents in need of non-emergency rides to medical appointments, shopping centers, group work programs, and County-run nutrition and adult day care sites; and
WHEREAS, the Division’s operations are supported in part by the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program, a state-funded program administered by New Jersey Transit, which provides grant funding to counties to support essential transportation services that promote mobility and independence; and
WHEREAS, the Division has requested authorization to hold a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on September 10, 2026, at 930 Riverview Drive, Suite 200 in Totowa, for the purpose of soliciting and receiving comments and suggestions from members of the public regarding the County’s 2027 Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program grant application; and
WHEREAS, the hearing is meant to give the public a chance to have their voices and concerns heard on a larger scale in order to help the Division deliver essential transportation service that will meet the needs of the County’s seniors and residents with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, this matter was presented for the August 26, 2026, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the Division to hold a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on September 10, 2026, at 930 Riverview Drive, Suite 200 in Totowa, for the purpose of soliciting and receiving comments and suggestions from members of the public regarding the County’s 2027 Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program grant application
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Purchasing Agent, Director of the Department of Senior Services, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
