RESOLUTION INCREASING THE PRIVATE PAY RATES FOR RESPITE CARE AT PREAKNESS HEALTHCARE CENTER, EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2024, AFTER NOTIFICATION TO PRIVATE PATIENTS, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, Preakness Healthcare Center (hereafter “Preakness”) is a New Jersey Department of Health licensed, 406-bed skilled nursing facility that is owned and operated by the Board; and
WHEREAS, Preakness is a nursing facility that serves the ever increasing needs of the County residents and provides various services, including long-term care, SCNF Ventilator Dependent Unit services and SCNF Behavioral Management Unit services to Medicate and private patients; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Director is requesting a resolution to increase private pay rates for respite care effective April 1, 2024 due to increased prices in medical supplies and professional services necessary to render care from $160.00/day to $300.00/day.
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 6, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes an increase private pay rates at Preakness Healthcare Center for respite care effective April 1, 2024, due to increased prices in medical supplies and professional services necessary to render care from $160.00/day to $300.00/day; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Executive Director of Preakness, and Director of the Board authorized to take any action to carry necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
