RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, UNDER THE RESILIENT COMMUNITIES PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and 

 

                     WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of Community Affairs administers the Resilient Communities Program grant which funds unmet recovery and mitigation needs for public infrastructure projects that will help flood prone areas become more resilient; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the Passaic County Engineer is recommending that the County apply for the Resilient Communities Program grant from the Department of Community Affairs, to provide funding for the Peckman River Stabilization Project in the Township of Little Falls; and

 

                     WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the September 30, 2026, meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes a grant application for a grant from the Department of Community Affairs under the Resilient Communities Program, for the Peckman River Stabilization Project in the Township of Little Falls.

 

                     LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Engineer, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized execute any documents for the grant application and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
