RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, FOR CHILDHOOD LEAD PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) are vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services (hereafter “Department”) is responsible for protecting and promoting the health of approximately 525,000 residents from 16 municipalities in the County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution R-23-0609 dated June 27, 2023, the Board authorized the Department to apply for and accept a grant award from the State of New Jersey, Department of Health, for the Childhood Lead Program Grant in the amount of six hundred twenty-five thousand and 00/100 ($625,000.00) dollars for the period beginning July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Department is requesting a resolution to apply for and accept additional funding in the amount of twelve thousand five hundred and 00/100 ($12,500.00) dollars for a total grant award of six hundred thirty seven thousand five hundred and 00/100 (637,500.00) dollars; and
WHEREAS, there is no dollar match to accept this award; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 2, 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) hereby authorizes the Department of Health Services to apply for and accept additional funds in the amount of twelve thousand five hundred and 00/100 and 00/100 ($12,500.00) dollars for a total amount of six hundred thirty seven thousand five hundred and 00/100 ($637,500.00) dollars in connection with the State of New Jersey, Department of Health, for the Childhood Lead Program; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Board, the Clerk to the Board, and County Counsel are authorized to take the necessary actions to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
