RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT EXTENSIONS OF THE PREVIOUSLY AWARDED POMPTON LAKES OPEN SPACE GRANTS FOR PARK DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) created an Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Program (hereafter “Program”) in conformity with the will of the voters in the 1996 election, as authorized by N.J.S.A. 40:12-15.2; and
WHEREAS, the purpose and goals of the above is to achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Pompton Lakes has requested agreement extensions to previously-awarded Park Development Grants; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has cited increased construction material costs and delays in acquiring NJDEP permits for the project delay; and
WHEREAS, the projects the Borough is requesting an extension for are as follows:
Willow Field Improvement Project (2019): requesting extension to November 27, 2025;
Willow Field Improvement Project Phase II (2020): requesting extension to November 27, 2025; and
Hershfield Park Phase I Improvements Project (Storage Shed) (2022): requesting extension to October 11, 2025.
WHEREAS, the Board is desirous of authorizing agreement extensions to the Borough for the above requests to account for the above-referenced project delays; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the February 13, 2025, meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners authorizes the agreement extensions to the previously awarded Park Development Grants to the Borough of Pompton Lakes as set forth above; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, Director of the Board, and County Counsel are hereby authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
