RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY ENGINEER TO APPLY FOR, ENTER INTO, AND EXECUTE THE FY2025 NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION LOCAL BRIDGES FUND GRANT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic is vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Engineer has identified a grant offered by the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation (hereafter “NJDOT”) known as the FY2025 Local Bridges Fund Grant Program with the goal of maintaining and improving New Jersey’s local transportation infrastructure by providing financial assistance to improve county jurisdiction bridges throughout the State.
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Engineer desires to apply for the FY2025 Local Bridges Fund Grant Program, and if the County is awarded the grant, further desires to use said funding for the replacement of the Dawes Highway Bridge No. 1600-503 over the Ramapo River on the Border of the Borough of Pompton Lakes and the Township of Wayne; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 15, 2025, Public Works Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic for approval.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Engineer to apply for the FY2025 Local Bridges Fund Grant from the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation in the amount of two million sixteen thousand one hundred seventy-seven dollars ($2,016,177.00), in accordance with the terms and conditions of said application.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, if the County is selected for the grant, that the Director of the Board of County Commissioners and the Passaic County Engineer is authorized to accept the FY2025 Local Bridges Fund Grant in the amount up to two million sixteen thousand one hundred seventy-seven dollars ($2,016,177.00) and execute any documents or agreements necessary to accept said grant.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, the Director of the Board, and Passaic County Engineer are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
