RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION’S GUIDE RAIL REPLACEMENT NORTH - CONTRACT 16 PROJECT, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and

 

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (hereafter “NJDOT”) is responsible for maintaining and improving the safety and functionality of New Jersy’s transportation infrastructure; and

 

WHEREAS, the NJDOT has initiated a guide rail replacement project (hereafter “Project”) to systematically replace existing substandard guide rails with proposed guide rails that meet Federal Highway Administration and Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware standards; and

 

WHEREAS, the Project may include work on roadways that traverse Passaic County, specifically NJDOT”s Roadway Route #202 in the Township of Wayne; and

 

WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the June 4, 2025 meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 et seq. that the Board of County Commissioners supports efforts by the NJDOT to maintain and improve transportation safety infrastructure via the guide rail replacement project; and

 

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Engineer, and Director of the Board are authorized and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
