RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE FY2027 COUNTY REENTRY COORDINATORS PROGRAM WITHIN THE PASSAIC COUNTY SHERIFF’S CORRECTIONS DIVISION, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services (“Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Corrections has informed the Department that the County is eligible for grant funding to support the County Reentry Coordinators (“CRC”) Program within the Passaic County Sheriff’s Corrections Division, in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) for State Fiscal Year 2027, from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027; and
WHEREAS, the CRC Program assists incarcerated persons in accessing post-release services, including treatment, benefits, housing, employment, and identification documents, in order to improve successful reentry outcomes, such as reduced recidivism, improved access to treatment, and increased post-release stability
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the September 30, 2026 meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Human Services to apply for and accept a grant from the New Jersey Department of Corrections for the County Reentry Coordinators Program within the Passaic County Sheriff’s Corrections Division, in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00), for State Fiscal Year 2027, from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, Director of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Department are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
