RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE STATEWIDE RESPITE CARE PROGRAM AGREEMENT FOR PURCHASE OF SERVICES WITH VNANNJ AFFILIATED HEALTH SERVICES, INC. ON BEHALF OF PREAKNESS HEALTHCARE CENTER, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and

 

WHEREAS, Preakness Healthcare Center (“Preakness”) is a New Jersey Department of Health licensed 406-bed skilled nursing facility that is owned and operated by the Board; and

 

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Statewide Respite Care Program gives a short-term or periodic break to family (or other caregivers) from the demands of daily care for functionally impaired persons, including the frail elderly; and

 

WHEREAS, the Executive Director of Preakness is recommending that the Board approve the Statewide Respite Care Program Agreement for Purchase of Services with VNANNJ Affiliated Health Services, Inc., to provide inpatient respite services for clients under the Statement Respite Care Program; and

 

WHEREAS, Preakness will be paid by VNANNJ Affiliated Health Services, Inc. in accordance with the rate schedule under N.J.A.C. 10:164B-7.1(b) for services rendered to clients in the Statewide Respite Care Program; and

 

                     WHEREAS, this matter was considered by the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic is authorizing the execution of the Statewide Respite Care Program Agreement for Purchase of Services with VNANNJ Affiliated Health Services, Inc., to provide inpatient respite services for clients under the Statement Respite Care Program.

 

                     LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution, including executing the Statewide Respite Care Program Agreement for Purchase of Services with VNANNJ Affiliated Health Services, Inc.
