RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONTINUED FUNDING AND EXPANSION OF THE NEW JERSEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SMALL BUSINESS GRANT PROGRAMS

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (“NJEDA”) administers a suite of Small Business Services grant programs that provide critical financial support to small businesses across the State; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Division of Economic Development works closely with the NJEDA Small Business Services team to promote the following programs to local businesses: Small Business Improvement Grant, Small Business Lease Grant, Small Business E-Commerce Support Program, Main Street Acquisition Support Grant, and Small Business Liquor License Grant; and
WHEREAS, Passaic County is home to more than 18,000 businesses, approximately 90 percent of which employ fewer than 100 people, representing nearly every sector of New Jersey’s economy; and
WHEREAS, these NJEDA grant programs serve as a lifeline to hardworking entrepreneurs who have invested time and resources to start, sustain, and grow their businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby expresses strong support for continued and sustained funding of the NJEDA Small Business Services grant programs listed above; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 30, 2026 meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners hereby expresses strong support for continued and sustained funding of the NJEDA Small Business Services grant programs listed above; and
