RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST MILFORD TO REALLOCATE THE REMAINING ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY THOUSAND AND 00/100 ($180,000.00) DOLLARS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO PROJECTS AT MOUNT LAUREL PARK AND NOSENZO POND PARK

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) created an Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Program (hereafter “Program”) in conformity with the will of the voters in the 1996 election, as authorized by N.J.S.A. 40:12-15.2; and
WHEREAS, the purpose and goals of the above is to achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment; and
WHEREAS, the Township of West Milford was previously awarded an Open Space grant in the amount of $180,000 for the 2020/21 Nosenzo Park Restroom/Septic Project; and
WHEREAS, the Township has requested to reallocate the awarded funds to alternative eligible projects; and
WHEREAS, the Township has proposed dividing the original $180,000 grant amount between the following projects:

WHEREAS, the Board is desirous of approving this request, because the proposal furthers the intent and purpose of the County’s Open Space Program; and
WHEREAS, two letters from the Township Administrator, William Senande, are attached with detail; and
WHEREAS, the matter was discussed at the June 2, 2026, meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED for the reasons set forth above, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Township of West Milford to reallocate the remaining one hundred eighty thousand and 00/100 ($180,000.00) dollars for the above-mentioned improvements at Mount Laurel Park and Nosenzo Pond Park; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the appropriate agreements in connection with the above.
