RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 2026 COUNTY AID GRANT, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (hereafter “NJDOT”) has advised the County that it is eligible for a grant in the amount of six million nine hundred sixty-two thousand nine hundred ninety-eight dollars ($6,962,998.00) for the NJDOT 2025 County Aid Program; and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer is seeking authorization to apply for and accept the NJDOT 2026 County Aid Grant in the amount of six million nine hundred sixty-two thousand nine hundred ninety-eight dollars ($6,962,998.00) and execute the grant agreement between the County and NJDOT; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the November 25, 2025 meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the County Engineer to apply for and accept the NJDOT 2026 County Aid Grant in the amount of six million nine hundred sixty-two thousand nine hundred ninety-eight dollars ($6,962,998.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the execution of the Agreement between the County and New Jersey Department of Transportation for the NJDOT 2026 County Aid Grant.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, Chief Financial Officer, County Counsel, County Engineer, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
