RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) TO SUPPORT THE MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL GANG, GUN, AND NARCOTICS TASK FORCE, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A 40:20-1 ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioner of the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office (hereinafter “PCPO”) seeks permission to apply for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), Subaward Number JAG-1-16TF-24, and if approved, accept an award of up to one hundred twenty-six thousand forty-nine dollars ($126,049.00) to support its Multi-Jurisdictional Gang, Gun, and Narcotics Task Force for the grant period July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 20, 2026 meeting of the Law and Public Safety Committee, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to apply for and accept the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant (JAG), Subaward Number JAG-1-16-TF-24, and if approved, accept an award of up to one hundred twenty-six thousand forty-nine dollars ($126,049.00) to support its Multi-Jurisdictional Gang, Gun, and Narcotics Task Force for the grant period July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office shall use the funds received for the purposes described in the application submitted for same.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution No. R-26-0078 dated January 27, 2026 shall be and hereby is repealed.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, County Administrator, County Prosecutor or her designee, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute an agreement and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
